Plug an external hard drive to your Windows 10 PC but it can’t be detected? The problem can be caused by the partition issue, outdated or corrupt drivers, etc. Here are top 2 ways to fix the external hard drive not showing up in Windows 10 issue.

1. Partition the External Hard Drive

You could use the Disk Management tool to diagnose your external hard drive not showing up issue in Windows 10. To get into Disk Management, take these steps:

Step 1.Press Windows +R altogether to open the Run dialog

Step 2. Type diskmgmt.msc into the search bar and hit Enter.

The Disk Management window will open, and you could see a list of drive letters. If you see that your external hard drive is unpartitioned and is full of “unallocated space,” you shall create a new partition on it to fix the external hard drive not showing up in Windows 10 issue.

Step 3. Right-click the unallocated space, select New Simple Volume, and follow the wizard to make the external hard drive partitioned.
